About Greg Pryor

Pryor's 1979 Topps rookie card, #559, listed him with the Chicago White Sox after an 82-game season in which he hit .261. He became Chicago's principal shortstop in 1979, playing 119 games there and batting .275 with 131 hits overall.

Greg Pryor played shortstop, second base and third base during 10 major-league seasons with Texas, the White Sox and Kansas City. He graduated from Florida Southern College in 1971, the same year Washington selected him in the sixth round of the draft. A February 1977 trade sent him and Brian Doyle from Texas to the Yankees for Sandy Alomar. Marvin Miller later alerted him to his free-agency rights, and Pryor joined the White Sox for 1978. In 1984, he played 123 games for Kansas City's division winners while filling in for George Brett and Frank White. He earned a World Series ring with the Royals in 1985.
