The story on this card

Griffin appeared in 5 games for Cleveland in 1978 before a December trade sent him to Toronto. His 1979 Topps rookie card, #705, grouped him with Indians prospects Tim Norrid and Dave Oliver. He hit .287 with 179 hits in his first Blue Jays season and shared the American League Rookie of the Year award with Minnesota's John Castino. Alfredo Griffin traveled to the 1984 All-Star Game as Blue Jays teammate Damaso Garcia's guest. When Alan Trammell was injured, Griffin joined the American League roster and played shortstop in the sixth inning.

A .272 average, 10 home runs and 66 RBIs at Triple-A Portland in 1978 preceded Norrid's 1979 Topps rookie card. Indians Prospects #705 grouped him with Alfredo Griffin and Dave Oliver, all listed with Cleveland. Norrid played for the Tacoma Tugs in 1979, batting .268 in 135 games. Cleveland outfield prospect Tim Norrid hit .283 with 9 home runs and 73 RBIs for Double-A Jersey City in 1977. He made 115 appearances in the outfield that season.

Oliver was back in the Cleveland farm system when 1979 Topps issued the Indians' Prospects card, #705, and he stayed there through 1980. He shares it with Alfredo Griffin and Tim Norrid, and it is the rookie card of both of them. Oliver had already appeared in the 1978 set. Dave Oliver was a second baseman from Stockton, California, who played seven games for the 1977 Indians, then coached for the Rangers and Red Sox from 1987 to 1996, mostly at third base.
