About Kevin Bell

Card #662 in the 1979 set shows Bell with the White Sox. He played 70 games in 1979, 68 of them at third base. He hit .245 with 4 home runs and 22 RBI. He also scored 20 runs and stole 2 bases.

Kevin Bell was a third baseman for the Chicago White Sox and, briefly, the Oakland Athletics, appearing in parts of six seasons between 1976 and 1982. The White Sox took him seventh overall in the 1974 draft after a single season at Mt. San Antonio College, and he reached the majors in 1976 as the youngest player in the big leagues. On June 22 of that year he hit an inside-the-park grand slam off Steve Busby of the Kansas City Royals. The White Sox released him after the 1980 season, in which he hit .178. The Padres picked him up but sent him to Oakland before the 1981 season in a deal for pitcher Bob Lacey that also brought minor leaguer Tony Phillips to the A's. Bell added 9 more at-bats for Oakland in 1982. His career line was .222 with 13 home runs and 64 RBI in 297 games.
