1979 Topps #86 Rodney Scott

About Rodney Scott
Scott played mostly third base for Chicago in 1978, batting .282 with 27 stolen bases in 78 games. The Cubs remained his printed club on 1979 Topps #86. On December 14, 1978, Chicago sent him and outfielder Jerry White to Montreal in exchange for Sam Mejias.
Rodney Scott was a switch-hitting infielder who stole 205 bases over 8 major league seasons with the Royals, Expos, Athletics, Cubs and Yankees. Kansas City selected him in the 11th round of the 1972 draft. He stole 85 bases between Waterloo and San Jose in 1974 and learned to switch-hit at Denver in 1976. Royals teammate John Mayberry gave him the nickname "Cool Breeze" because Scott took setbacks calmly. With Montreal in 1980, he tied for the National League lead with 13 triples and stole 63 bases. His major league career ended with a .236 average and 504 hits.
