Silvio Martinez was a Dominican right-handed pitcher who worked in the majors from 1977 to 1981 for the Chicago White Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals. He arrived in Chicago in a December 10, 1976 deal at the Winter Meetings that sent him and Richie Zisk from the Pittsburgh Pirates to the White Sox for Goose Gossage and Terry Forster. He pitched mostly as a starter, and his one big league save came on August 26, 1977, when he threw two scoreless innings to close a 4-2 White Sox win over the Milwaukee Brewers. He moved to the Cardinals in 1978 and made 22 starts that year, going 9-8 with a 3.64 ERA. His career record was 31-32 with a 3.88 ERA over 107 games. He started 87 of them and struck out 230 batters in 582 2/3 innings. He was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, on August 19, 1955, and his last game was October 4, 1981.
