About Eddie Johnson
A prolific 6'7" forward out of the University of Illinois, Edward Arnet Johnson (born May 1, 1959) was drafted by the Kansas City Kings in the second round (29th overall) of the 1981 NBA Draft and went on to play 17 NBA seasons. He suited up for the Kings (Kansas City and Sacramento, 1981-87), Phoenix Suns, Seattle SuperSonics, Charlotte Hornets, Indiana Pacers, and Houston Rockets, building a reputation as one of the game's finest instant-offense scorers off the bench. He won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1989 with Phoenix, averaging 21.5 points that season. Remarkably, despite retiring with 19,202 career points-among the highest totals in league history at the time-and a 16.0 ppg career average, Johnson was never named an All-Star or to an All-NBA team. He is also remembered for a buzzer-beating three that won Game 4 of the 1997 Western Conference Finals for the Rockets over the Jazz.
