1957 Topps #291 Windy McCall
Scarce fourth series: #265-352 is the tough run of the 1957 set — roughly twice as hard to find as the other series ("tough, not rare"). No documented reason survives; the best-researched account is that Topps printed the hastily assembled final series in quantity and left Series 4 with the shortest run.

About Windy McCall
John William 'Windy' McCall (1925–2015) grew up in San Francisco and enlisted in the Marines at 17, serving in the Pacific — floating reserve off Iwo Jima, then MP duty on Okinawa — before signing with the Boston Red Sox for a $6,000 bonus in 1947. The lefty's debut on April 25, 1948 was brutal: a three-run Joe DiMaggio homer at Yankee Stadium. That spring, Ted Williams hung 'Windy' on the talkative rookie who told him to 'bring up some of my good bats' for batting practice. After stints with Boston (1948-49) and Pittsburgh (1950), McCall went 12-7 with a 3.04 ERA for the 1953 San Francisco Seals, and the Giants paid three players plus $60,000 to get him. A bullpen regular on New York's 1954 World Series championship club, he finished 11-15 with a 4.22 ERA and 12 saves in 134 games. His final big-league outing came May 5, 1957, the same season this scarce fourth-series card was issued.
