The story on this card

Card 10 in the 1963 Topps set is a League Leaders subset piece recapping the 1962 American League strikeout race, with five right-handers pictured together: Camilo Pascual of the Twins, who topped the league with 206 strikeouts in a 20-11 season, his first 20-win year, and four pursuers arranged behind him - Jim Bunning of the Tigers, Ralph Terry of the pennant-winning Yankees, Jim Kaat of the Twins, and Juan Pizarro of the White Sox, whose strikeout totals trailed Pascual's on the year. The card is part of Topps' first series for 1963. Pascual's 206 strikeouts came in a season where he also led the league in complete games and shutouts, one of few AL pitchers to top all three categories that year.

Camilo Pascual - Cuban right-hander whose overhand curveball, learned from Adolfo Luque, carried him from the worst Senators teams to three straight American League strikeout crowns and back-to-back 20-win seasons for the Minnesota Twins. Jim Bunning was a hard-throwing right-hander who threw no-hitters in both leagues, including a 1964 perfect game for the Phillies, and later served as a US Senator from Kentucky. Ralph Terry, a Yankees right-hander through five straight pennants (1960-64), threw the series-clinching 1-0 shutout in Game Seven of the 1962 World Series and was named that Series' MVP. Jim Kaat was the Twins' durable left-handed ace through the 1960s, a 283-game winner over a then-record 25 seasons who took 16 straight Gold Gloves and led the American League with 25 wins in 1966. Puerto Rican left-hander Juan Pizarro pitched 18 big-league seasons for eight clubs and won 131 games, twice an All-Star in his six years with the Chicago White Sox and a Hall of Famer in his own country.
