On this card: Jerry Arrigo, Dwight Siebler

About this card
This is one of the fifty-seven two-player Rookie Stars cards in the 1964 Topps set: fifty-three pair two prospects from one club, and the four league cards (#548, #564, #568 and #572) pair prospects from two clubs. Every one of them is a rookie card for at least one of its two players.
The story on this card
Arrigo spent the 1964 season with the Minnesota Twins, working 41 games including 12 starts and going 7-4 with a 3.84 ERA. That June 26 he carried a no-hitter against the White Sox into the ninth inning before Mike Hershberger broke it up with a single. His 1964 Topps card, #516, comes from the set's sixth print series and is a recognized rookie card, sharing space in the Twins Rookie Stars subset with fellow pitcher Dwight Siebler. A Chicago-born left-hander who pitched ten major league seasons for four American and National League clubs in the 1960s, throwing two career one-hitters, one broken up in the ninth inning.
Card #516 is a Rookie Stars card from the sixth print series, pairing Siebler with fellow young Twins pitcher Jerry Arrigo. Siebler had made his big-league debut the previous August with two complete-game wins for Minnesota, but the 1964 season itself was mostly spent at Triple-A as he worked to rebuild his fastball after a 1962 elbow injury, appearing in only a handful of games for the Twins that year. A Nebraska farm boy turned Minnesota Twins reliever, Dwight Siebler never got his live fastball back after a spring-training injury delivering to Harmon Killebrew, and instead relied on a hard curve to hang on for five seasons.
