The story on this card
Card 134 replays Game 3 of the 1964 World Series, the Yankees and Cardinals even at a game apiece with the Series moved to Yankee Stadium. Curt Simmons and Jim Bouton traded early runs and nothing else: Clete Boyer's second-inning double put New York ahead, Simmons drove in the tying run himself in the fifth, and it was still 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth. Leading off, Mickey Mantle told on-deck hitter Elston Howard to head for the clubhouse because he was going to end it, then hit reliever Barney Schultz's first-pitch knuckleball into the right field stands. It was Mantle's 16th World Series home run, one past Babe Ruth's record of 15. Mantle is the figure on the front, and the card sits in the Series subset of the second print series under the Yankees heading.
