The story on this card
This World Series subset card recreates Game 6 of the 1964 Fall Classic, with Jim Bouton starting for the Yankees against the Cardinals. St. Louis scored first on a double play, but New York tied it in the fifth when Tom Tresh doubled and scored on Bouton's own two-out single. Back-to-back home runs from Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle put the Yankees ahead in the sixth. New York broke the game open in the eighth, chasing reliever Barney Schultz and greeting his replacement, Gordie Richardson, with a bases-loaded grand slam from Joe Pepitone. Bouton left after the eighth; Steve Hamilton allowed a ninth-inning RBI single charged to Bouton, but the Yankees still won 8-3 to even the Series and force Game 7. Bouton started and won two games in the Series.
