1967 Topps #366 Andy Kosco

About Andy Kosco
With Minnesota's outfield still crowded, Kosco spent most of 1967 in Triple-A Denver, batting .297 with 13 home runs in 108 games, and got into only 9 games with the Twins. That October the Oakland Athletics purchased his contract before the Yankees claimed him in the Rule 5 draft. His 1967 Topps #366 card, from the set's fourth print series, shows him with the Twins.
Andy Kosco was an outfielder and first baseman out of Youngstown, Ohio, signed by Detroit in 1959 for a $62,500 bonus after a huge senior season at Struthers High School. Released by the Tigers in 1964, he caught on with the Minnesota Twins, tore up Triple-A Denver, and debuted in the majors in August 1965 during Minnesota's pennant run. Over a ten-year career he played for the Twins, Yankees, Dodgers, Brewers, Angels, Red Sox and Reds, his best power seasons coming with New York in 1968 and Los Angeles in 1969. He reached the postseason once, with the 1973 Reds in the NLCS. After retiring he finished a bachelor's degree at Youngstown State and went into the insurance business with his sons.
