The story on this card
Card 152 in Topps' second series covers Game 2 of the 1966 World Series between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers. Twenty-year-old Jim Palmer, pictured on the front, outdueled Sandy Koufax, who was making the final start of his career. Baltimore struck first thanks to two fielding errors and a throwing error by Dodgers center fielder Willie Davis in one inning, then added a run off Koufax in the sixth on a Frank Robinson triple and a Boog Powell single. After the second inning Palmer let just one runner reach as far as second base and finished the shutout, becoming the youngest pitcher in World Series history to throw one. The 6-0 win put the Orioles ahead two games to none in a series they would sweep for their first championship.
