The story on this card

Card #153 is part of the 1968 Topps World Series subset, print series 2, recapping Game 3 of the 1967 Fall Classic between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox. Nelson Briles, filling in for an injured Bob Gibson down the stretch, started for St. Louis at Busch Memorial Stadium and cooled off a Red Sox club that had just evened the Series at Fenway. Lou Brock opened the scoring with a first-inning triple, and Mike Shannon added a two-run homer as the Cardinals built an early lead. Briles worked a complete game, allowing only two runs, to beat Boston 5-2 and put St. Louis ahead two games to one. The card highlights his poise in relief of the ace and the Cardinals' path toward their eventual seven-game championship.
