The story on this card

Bobb was the eighth-youngest player to appear in the National League in 1968, when he caught all seven of his games and had eight at-bats. His Rookie Stars card, #429 in the fourth series of 1970, pairs him with fellow Cubs prospect Jim Cosman and is his rookie card. Both men are printed with the Cubs. Catcher from Los Angeles who played 10 games for the Cubs in 1968-69, with one career hit, a single off Ron Reed. The Cubs sent him to the Mets for J.C. Martin before 1970. He died in 1982.

Cosman made the Cubs' Opening Day roster in 1970, but manager Leo Durocher did not use him until April 30 against Atlanta, the team's 18th game. The first batter he faced was Hank Aaron, who homered into the left field stands on a down-and-in sinker. Cosman was pulled with the bases loaded, and two of the runners he left scored after Larry Gura came on, both charged to him. Card #429 is a Cubs Rookie Stars card that pairs him with Randy Bobb, whose rookie card it is. Jim Cosman was a tall right-handed pitcher who threw a two-hit shutout in his 1966 debut for the Cardinals and pitched in 12 major league games through 1970, also with the Cubs.
