About Danny Walton

Walton hit .257 with 17 home runs and 66 RBI in 117 games in 1970, the franchise's first season in Milwaukee as the Brewers. The year before he had batted .217 in 23 games for the Seattle Pilots. Card #134, from the second series, is his rookie card and lists him with the Pilots; Topps kept issuing Pilots cards despite the move.

Danny Walton was a right-handed power-hitting outfielder from Los Angeles who played parts of nine major league seasons between 1968 and 1980 for the Houston Astros, Seattle Pilots and Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers. He hit .223 with 28 home runs in 297 games. A Bishop Amat Memorial High School product, he was a 10th-round Astros pick in 1965. The Sporting News named him its 1969 Minor League Player of the Year for Oklahoma City, where he hit .332 with 25 home runs and 119 RBI; Houston sent him and Sandy Valdespino to Seattle for Tommy Davis on August 31, 1969. Former minor league teammate Joe Simpson called him arguably the strongest man he ever played with. While playing winter ball in Puerto Rico he took a job as a sparring partner for boxer Joe King Roman and was fired after beating him up. He played in Japan for the Yokohama Taiyo Whales and later worked as a welder.
