The story on this card
Severinsen spent 1970 at Triple-A Rochester, where his 22 saves led the International League, after coming home early from winter ball in Puerto Rico with an injured arm. His Rookie Stars card, #477 in the fifth series, pairs him with Roger Freed; both men are printed with Baltimore, and it is a rookie card for each. Freed's first card, #477 in the fifth series, is a Rookie Stars issue shared with Al Severinsen. At Rochester in 1970 he hit .334 with 24 home runs and 130 RBI, earning International League MVP honors and Topps Player of the Year recognition. He debuted for the Orioles on September 18 and went 2-for-13 in four games. Outfielder and first baseman who won two minor league Player of the Year awards and played for five major league clubs. He hit .398 for the 1977 Cardinals and won a game with a walk-off grand slam in 1979.
