Felipe Rojas Alou was born May 12, 1935, in Haina, Dominican Republic, and signed with the New York Giants in November 1955 for $200. He debuted with San Francisco on June 8, 1958, the second Dominican-born player to reach the majors after Ozzie Virgil, and played seventeen seasons (1958-1974) as an outfielder and first baseman for the Giants, Braves, Athletics, Yankees, Expos and Brewers. He, Matty and Jesus Alou formed the only all-brother outfield in major-league history, and his son Moises Alou followed him to the majors. Alou later became the first Dominican-born manager in big-league history, guiding the Montreal Expos from 1992 to 2001 and the San Francisco Giants from 2003 to 2006, finishing 1,033-1,021. He is in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame (2015) and the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame (2016).
