He platooned with Bill Robinson in right field and played 87 games, hitting .254 with 9 home runs and 28 RBIs. His 1973 Topps card is #147, in the second series, shown with the Phillies.
Mike Anderson signed a letter of intent to play tight end at the University of South Carolina while at Timmonsville High School in South Carolina. After three minor league seasons, in which he hit .322 with 21 home runs and 241 RBIs, he reached Philadelphia at age 20 and debuted on September 2, 1971. He played nine major league seasons through 1979 for the Phillies, Cardinals and Orioles, and finished with a .246 average, 28 home runs and 134 RBIs in 721 games. The Phillies traded him to St. Louis for Ron Reed on December 9, 1975. He spent 1980 at Oklahoma City, hitting .327, and played part of 1981 in the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system before retiring. He hit .316 in the minors.
