1973 Topps #532 Steve Mingori

About Steve Mingori
The Indians traded Mingori to Kansas City for Mike Jackson on June 8, 1973. Between the two clubs he went 3-3 with a 3.57 ERA and one save. He struck out 50 in 68 innings over 24 games, one of them a start. Card #532 is a high number from print series 5 and pictures him with the Indians.
Steve Mingori was a left-handed relief pitcher who spent ten seasons in the majors with the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he signed with the Cincinnati Reds in 1965 and worked five years in their minor league system before a trade sent him to Cleveland ahead of the 1970 season. He debuted on August 5, 1970, and posted a 1.43 ERA in 54 games the following year despite missing much of the season after breaking his jaw. In June 1973 the Royals traded for him, in part because he was a Kansas City native, and he pitched in relief for them through 1979, working at least 30 games in each of his final three seasons. He finished his career 18-33 with a 3.03 ERA and 42 saves across 385 games, almost all in relief, and pitched in three straight ALCS losses to the Yankees from 1976 to 1978.
