Mike Miley was a switch-hitting shortstop who played two seasons for the California Angels, 1975 and 1976. Before baseball he was the quarterback at Louisiana State University, where his leadership earned him the nickname Miracle Mike. He guided the Tigers into the 1974 Orange Bowl as a junior, then left school to sign with the Angels, who had made him their first pick in the 1974 draft. He debuted on July 6, 1975, and played shortstop for California through the 1976 season. His career line was 84 games, a .176 average, four home runs and 30 RBI. Miley died in a one-car crash in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on January 6, 1977.
