About Cas Myslinski
Cas Myslinski anchored the Army line at center from 1941 through 1943, and in his final season the cadet from Steubenville, Ohio put together one of the great years any lineman had during the war era: unanimous All-America honors, the Knute Rockne Award as the nation's outstanding lineman, and co-captaincy of the 1943 team alongside Robin Olds. Commissioned upon graduation in 1944, he made the Air Force a career, teaching at both West Point and the Air Force Academy before retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Myslinski's second act was just as substantial: named the University of Pittsburgh's athletic director in 1968, he spent fourteen years rebuilding the Panthers, hiring Johnny Majors and presiding over the football program's return to national prominence before stepping down in 1982. West Point inducted him into its Army Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
