About Hank Aaron
Signed off the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro American League in 1952, Hank Aaron reached the majors with the Milwaukee Braves in 1954 after a season each at Eau Claire and Jacksonville, and the right fielder went on to play 23 seasons (Braves 1954-1974, then the Milwaukee Brewers 1975-1976). A 25-time All-Star, he won the 1957 NL MVP while leading the league in home runs and RBI, and carried the Braves to the 1957 World Series title over the Yankees, batting .393 with three homers after his Sept. 23 walk-off had clinched the pennant. He also won two batting titles, four home run crowns, four RBI titles, and three Gold Gloves. On April 8, 1974 he passed Babe Ruth with his 715th home run off Al Downing, finishing with 755. Nicknamed "Hammerin' Hank," he hit .305 with 3,771 hits, 755 home runs, and a record 2,297 RBI, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1982. This is his second-year card (rookie is 1954 Topps); the back carries an uncorrected birth date (it should read Feb. 5).
