Cleveland finished sixth in 1957 at 76-77, then reshaped its lineup for 1958. That offseason the Indians reacquired veteran outfielder Minnie Minoso from the Chicago White Sox in a four-player deal that sent pitcher Early Wynn and outfielder Al Smith to Chicago. Minoso rewarded them with a .302 average and a career-high 24 home runs in 1958, pairing with young slugger Rocky Colavito to give Cleveland a potent power tandem. The team card's back carries a series checklist, a feature Topps added to its team cards for the first time in 1958, making the 1958 team cards a popular part of the set.
