About this card

Cards #142-148 tell the 1962 World Series game by game - the Yankees over the Giants in seven, from Whitey Ford's win in the opener to the Yankees celebrating Ralph Terry's Game 7 victory.

The story on this card

This World Series card revisits the deciding Game 7 of the 1962 Fall Classic, played in San Francisco. Ralph Terry, pictured on the front, threw a complete-game shutout for the Yankees against the Giants, and the game came down to the final out: with runners on second and third and two down in the ninth, Willie McCovey lined a hard shot that Yankees second baseman Bobby Richardson caught to end it. New York won 1-0, taking the seven-game series and the franchise's 20th title, and Terry was named World Series MVP. Card #148 is part of Topps' 1963 World Series subset, photo cards recapping each 1962 Series game in order; it falls in print series 2.
