About this card

Cards #305-310 follow the 1969 World Series, the New York Mets over the Baltimore Orioles, game by game - Games 1 through 5 - and close with #310, the Mets' celebration.

The story on this card

Don Buford's leadoff home run opened the 1969 World Series at Memorial Stadium on October 11. He hit the second pitch Tom Seaver threw, a drive that carried just past the leaping Ron Swoboda. Card #305 in the third series opens the 1970 Topps World Series subset, #305-310, with a card for each game. Baltimore added three runs in the fourth: Mark Belanger and pitcher Mike Cuellar drove in runs with singles, and Buford doubled home Belanger. Cuellar went the distance, allowing only a seventh-inning sacrifice fly by Al Weis, and the Orioles won 4-1. Seaver took the loss. The Mets then won the next four games and the Series.
