The story on this card

Jim Palmer closed out the 1970 American League Championship Series in Game 3 at Memorial Stadium on October 5, ten days short of his 25th birthday. Coming off a 20-win season with a 2.71 ERA, he beat Minnesota 6-1. He scattered seven hits, struck out a career-high 12 and walked three. Minnesota starter Jim Kaat left with two on and none out in the third, and Palmer doubled in a run in that inning. Don Buford scored the first run on Boog Powell's single in the first, and Davey Johnson homered in the seventh off Jim Perry. The Twins scored once, on Leo Cardenas' single after a triple, and the win gave the Orioles the pennant with a three-game sweep. This is 1971 Topps #197, titled Palmer Mows 'Em Down!, the Jim Palmer card in the Playoffs subset (#195-202) of the second series.
