The story on this card
The Baltimore Orioles swept the Minnesota Twins three games to none in the 1970 American League Championship Series, and 1971 Topps #198 is the team's celebration card in the Playoffs subset (#195-202) of the second series. Game 1 at Metropolitan Stadium turned on a seven-run fourth inning that included Mike Cuellar's wind-blown grand slam off Jim Perry and homers by Don Buford and Boog Powell. Game 2 ended 11-3 after Baltimore scored seven times in the ninth, matching the postseason record for runs in that inning. Jim Palmer closed it out in Baltimore, a 6-1 win with 12 strikeouts. The Orioles had swept Minnesota the year before as well, and this time they beat the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series.
