The story on this card

Ty Cline's pinch-hit triple in the 10th inning of Game 1 of the 1970 National League Championship Series is the moment on 1971 Topps #199. The game was played October 3 at Three Rivers Stadium before 33,088, and the card is a Cincinnati Reds entry in the Playoffs subset of the second series. Gary Nolan, an 18-game winner in the regular season, had thrown nine shutout innings against Pittsburgh's Dock Ellis when Reds manager Sparky Anderson sent Cline up for him. Cline led off the 10th with the triple and scored on a Pete Rose single, then Lee May doubled to add two insurance runs. Clay Carroll kept Pittsburgh hitless in the bottom half to protect Nolan's win. The Reds swept the series in three games.
