The story on this card
The Reds finished off Pittsburgh on October 5, 1970, at Riverfront Stadium with a 3-2 win in Game 3, completing a three-game sweep of the Pirates. Cincinnati had won Game 1 in ten innings behind nine shutout innings from Gary Nolan, and Game 2 3-1 with Bobby Tolan's home run and 3 1/3 hitless innings of relief from Don Gullett. Game 3 ended when Gullett got Al Oliver to ground to Tommy Helms. It was the Reds' first pennant in nine years, and the series was the first postseason baseball played on artificial turf. Cincinnati then lost the World Series to Baltimore. Topps closed its National League playoff run with 1971 Topps #202, "Reds Celebrate!", the Cincinnati team card in the Playoffs subset of the second series.
