On this card: Enos Cabell, Pat Bourque, Gonzalo Marquez

About this card
Cards #601-616 are the sixteen three-player 1973 Rookies cards, each titled by position. A Rookies card is a rookie card for the players on it who had no earlier Topps flagship card, and the rookie-card answer on each card names the players it counts for.
The story on this card
Cabell appeared in 32 games for Baltimore in 1973, mostly at first base, and went 10 for 47 with a home run. His 1973 Topps card, #605, is his rookie card, a three-man Rookies card and a high number from the fifth series. He is printed with the Orioles beside Pat Bourque, printed with the Cubs, and Gonzalo Marquez, printed with the Athletics; it is a rookie card for both of them as well. Enos Cabell played third and first base from 1972 to 1986, chiefly for the Houston Astros, who acquired him from Baltimore in December 1974. He hit .277 with 238 stolen bases in 1,688 games and was part of the 1980 Astros division champions.
Chicago cut Bourque from its Opening Day roster in April 1973, and he hit six home runs in four days at Wichita before the Cubs recalled him on May 19. On August 29 he went to Oakland for Gonzalo Marquez, and in Game Three of the World Series he singled on a bunt off Ray Sadecki. Bourque is printed with the Cubs on #605, a high-number fifth-series Rookie First Basemen card shared with Enos Cabell (Orioles) and Marquez (Athletics), the rookie card for all three. Left-handed first baseman who played 201 games for the Cubs, Athletics and Twins from 1971 to 1974, won the 1972 American Association MVP award at Wichita, then took a Mexican League batting title with Mexico City in 1975.
Marquez made Oakland's Opening Day roster as a pinch hitter and went 6-for-23 for the Athletics before being sent to Triple-A Tucson in early June. He was recalled in August, then traded to the Cubs on August 29 for Pat Bourque. Bourque shares the card: #605 is a three-player rookie card with Enos Cabell, printed with Baltimore, Bourque with the Cubs and Marquez with Oakland. It is Marquez's rookie card and a high number from the fifth series. Gonzalo Marquez was a Venezuelan first baseman and pinch hitter with Oakland and the Cubs from 1972 to 1974. He delivered the 11th-inning single that won Game One of the 1972 ALCS and played 20 winters in Venezuela, nearly all for Caracas.
