The story on this card
Cincinnati evened the 1972 World Series at three games apiece with an 8-1 win on October 21 at Riverfront Stadium. Johnny Bench, without an RBI in the Series to that point, broke a scoreless tie in the fourth with a home run off Vida Blue. Oakland answered on a Dick Green RBI double in the fifth, and after that the Reds took over. Dave Concepcion hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Tony Perez an RBI single in the sixth, his first RBI of the Series. A five-run seventh followed, with a Joe Morgan RBI single and two-run singles by Bobby Tolan and Cesar Geronimo. It was Cincinnati's first home World Series win since Game 7 of 1940. Card #208 in 1973 Topps, a World Series subset card in the second series, pictures Bench, Tolan and Denis Menke of the Reds.
