The story on this card
Game 7 of the 1972 World Series, played October 22 at Riverfront Stadium, is the moment on 1973 Topps #209, one of the World Series Highlights cards numbered #203-210. The photo goes to Oakland shortstop Bert Campaneris, who went 2-for-4 that day. The game stood 1-1 after Cincinnati tied it in the fifth, and in the sixth Campaneris singled to center against Pedro Borbon. Angel Mangual bunted him to second, Joe Rudi's groundout moved him to third, and Gene Tenace's double to left scored him with the go-ahead run. Sal Bando then doubled to center for another run, and the Athletics won 3-2 behind Catfish Hunter and Rollie Fingers, taking the Series four games to three. Pete Rose hit to left for the final out against Fingers. The card was issued in the second series.
