The story on this card

Card #210 closes the 1973 Topps World Series Highlights run (#203-210) with the Oakland Athletics as a club, summing up the 1972 Series. Oakland beat the Cincinnati Reds four games to three for its sixth championship and its first since 1930, when the franchise was still in Philadelphia. It was also the first major professional sports title won by a San Francisco Bay Area team. The Athletics played without Reggie Jackson, who pulled a hamstring in the final ALCS game against Detroit. Catcher Gene Tenace hit four home runs with nine RBI and was voted Series MVP. Six of the seven games were decided by one run, and both clubs hit .209. Game 7 ended 3-2 at Riverfront Stadium when Pete Rose hit to left for the final out against Rollie Fingers.
