The story on this card
Card #204 in the 1973 Topps World Series Highlights run pairs Oakland first baseman Mike Hegan with Cincinnati's Tony Perez for Game 2 of the 1972 Series, played October 15 at Riverfront Stadium. Oakland won 2-1. Joe Rudi homered and made a game-saving catch against the wall on Denis Menke's ninth-inning drive, and Catfish Hunter pitched eight innings and drove in a run. Perez opened the Reds' ninth with a base hit. Hegan then dove to knock down Cesar Geronimo's line drive and dove again to beat him to the bag. Perez scored on a Hal McRae single, but Rollie Fingers came on and got pinch hitter Julian Javier to pop out to Hegan in foul territory to end it. Oakland went up two games to none. The card is part of the second series.
