1979 Topps #482 Craig Reynolds

About Craig Reynolds
Reynolds hit .292 with 160 hits in 148 games for the 1978 Mariners. At the All-Star break he was hitting .306 with three home runs and 29 RBIs, and he did not appear in the game. His 1979 Topps card, #482, pictures him with Seattle.
Craig Reynolds was a left-handed-hitting shortstop who played 15 seasons from 1975 to 1989 and was an original member of the Seattle Mariners. A Houston native, he was named the Greater Houston High School Athlete of the Year at Reagan High School in 1971, and the Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the first round of that year's draft. He became Seattle's starting shortstop immediately in 1977. He was the Mariners' lone American League All-Star in 1978. When Garry Templeton declined the 1979 invitation, he was added to the National League squad, making him the only shortstop in major league history picked for both leagues in consecutive years. Houston traded Floyd Bannister to Seattle for him after 1978, and he played 11 seasons with the Astros. He tied a major league record with three triples in a game on May 16, 1981, and shared the National League lead with 12 triples that year. In retirement he went into wealth management in Houston and became a pastor.
