1979 Topps #224 Dave Revering

About Dave Revering
The 1979 Athletics lost 108 games. Revering hit .288 that season, with career highs of 19 home runs and 77 RBIs. He appeared in 125 games, 104 of them at first base. His 1979 Topps card, #224, pictures him with Oakland.
Dave Revering was a left-handed-hitting first baseman who played 557 major league games from 1978 to 1982 for the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners. A seventh-round Cincinnati Reds pick in 1971 out of Bella Vista High School in California, he became a top prospect and hit as many as 29 home runs with 110 RBIs for Triple-A Indianapolis in 1977. He hit .279 with 52 home runs and 195 RBIs in Oakland, where he held the first base job until the Athletics traded him to the Yankees on May 20, 1981. That October was his only postseason: he appeared twice as a late-inning defender in the Division Series, then singled in the Yankees' 13-3 win over Oakland in Game 2 of the ALCS. In August 1982 Toronto offered him a minor league demotion or his release, and he chose release. He finished with Seattle, tried out with Detroit in 1983 and retired.
