1954 Topps #132 Tom Lasorda
Tom Lasorda's rookie card - the 'fourth' of the famous rookie crop; a Hall of Famer as a manager.

About Tom Lasorda
Card #132 is the rookie card of Tommy Lasorda (spelled "Tom" on the card), a left-handed pitcher born in 1927 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, whose modest playing career belies one of baseball's most storied lives. Signed by the Phillies as an amateur in 1945 and later drafted by Brooklyn, Lasorda became the winningest pitcher in Montreal Royals history (107-57 in the International League) but managed only a brief big-league run: he went 0-4 with a 6.48 ERA and 37 strikeouts over 58.1 innings across three seasons with the Brooklyn Dodgers (1954-1955) and Kansas City Athletics (1956). On May 5, 1955 he tied a major-league record with three wild pitches in one inning. His true legacy came in the dugout: managing the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1976 to 1996, he won two World Series titles (1981 and 1988), four NL pennants, and two Manager of the Year awards (1983, 1988), famously professing to "bleed Dodger Blue." He later guided the U.S. to Olympic gold in 2000. Elected to the Hall of Fame as a manager in 1997, Lasorda died in 2021; his No. 2 is retired by the Dodgers.
