The story on this card

Bailor appears on card #474, printed with the Blue Jays. His 1976 was spent with Baltimore, where the Orioles recalled him in September and he went 2-for-6 in nine games. He shares the Rookie Prospects card with Kiko Garcia of the Orioles, Craig Reynolds of the Pirates and Alex Taveras of the Astros. For Bailor, Garcia and Taveras it is a rookie card. Bob Bailor played every position but first base and catcher for the Orioles, Blue Jays, Mets and Dodgers from 1975 to 1985, batting .264. Toronto's first expansion-draft pick, he later managed Syracuse and coached the Blue Jays.

Garcia spent all of 1977 in Baltimore, backing up shortstop Mark Belanger and hitting .221 with two home runs in 65 games. On April 24 he went 4-for-4 and scored the only Oriole run in a 2-1 loss to Detroit. Card #474 is a four-player Rookie Prospects card shared with Bob Bailor (printed with Toronto), Craig Reynolds (Pittsburgh) and Alex Taveras (Houston); Garcia, Bailor and Taveras each appear on their rookie cards. Infielder who succeeded Mark Belanger at shortstop for the 1979 pennant-winning Orioles and hit .400 in that World Series, then played for the Astros and Phillies, ending his career in 1985.

Card #474 gathers four prospects, Bob Bailor of the Blue Jays, Kiko Garcia of the Orioles, Reynolds as a Pirate and Alex Taveras of the Astros. By the time it circulated Reynolds was no longer in Pittsburgh: Seattle took Grant Jackson from the Yankees in the 1976 expansion draft, then a month later sent him to the Pirates for Reynolds and Jimmy Sexton. Shortstop for the Pirates, Mariners and Astros from 1975 to 1989, an original Seattle Mariner and the only shortstop picked for the American and National League All-Star teams in consecutive years, 1978 and 1979.

Taveras batted .217 in 14 games for Houston in 1976, splitting his fielding appearances between second base and shortstop. His 1977 Topps rookie card, #474, is a Rookie Prospects card that lists him with the Astros alongside Toronto's Bob Bailor, Baltimore's Kiko Garcia and Pittsburgh's Craig Reynolds. Taveras was a right-handed infielder from Santiago in the Dominican Republic. He played second base, shortstop and third base, and had three sons: Alex Jr., Smil and Joshua.
