About Bob Lacey
Lacey led the American League with 74 appearances in 1978, going 8-9 with a 3.01 ERA for Oakland. Bursitis in his heel troubled him in 1979, when he finished with a 5.85 ERA in 42 relief outings. His 1979 Topps card is #647.
Bob Lacey was a left-handed relief pitcher for Oakland, Cleveland, Texas, California and San Francisco. Oakland selected him in the 10th round of the 1972 draft, and he went 13-2 in his first minor league season. Across seven major league seasons, Lacey made 284 appearances and earned 22 saves. His first major league start, for Billy Martin's Athletics near the end of 1980, was a shutout of Milwaukee. Lacey passed through the Padres in a pair of trades before pitching for Cleveland and Texas in 1981. He spent 1982 with Saltillo in the Mexican League, then returned to the majors with the Angels and Giants.
