The story on this card
Bass spent 1979 at Holyoke in the Double-A Eastern League, where he started slowly and then surged in June. In 1978 he had batted .265 with 18 home runs and 36 steals at Class A Burlington. His #708 is the Milwaukee Brewers Prospects card he shares with Eddie Romero and Ned Yost, a rookie card for all three men and one of the key rookie cards of the set. Switch-hitting outfielder who played 14 seasons, ten with the Houston Astros. He made the 1986 National League All-Star team after hitting .311 with 20 home runs, and made the final out of the 16-inning Game 6 of that year's NLCS.
Romero spent 1978 at Triple-A Spokane, batting .280 with 52 RBI while playing primarily at shortstop. His rookie card was Milwaukee's 1979 Topps Prospects #708, shared with fellow Brewers prospects Kevin Bass and Ned Yost. Romero batted .260 for Vancouver in 1979 after Milwaukee moved its Triple-A affiliation there. Brewers shortstop Eddie Romero collected 3 singles against Baltimore's Dennis Martinez on July 17, 1977. The third drove home Jim Wohlford in the eighth inning with the winning run in a 3-2 Milwaukee victory.
Yost played for Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliates, Spokane in 1978 and Vancouver in 1979. His 1979 Topps rookie card, #708, grouped him with fellow Brewers prospects Kevin Bass and Eddie Romero. He made his major-league debut for Milwaukee on April 12, 1980. Brewers catcher Ned Yost borrowed Charlie Moore's bat for his 3-run homer at Boston on September 29, 1982. The ninth-inning drive gave Milwaukee a 6-3 win.
