1979 Topps #474 Dick Davis

About Dick Davis
Davis hit 12 home runs and scored 51 runs in 91 Brewers games in 1979. His Milwaukee rookie card, #474 in 1979 Topps, followed a season in which he batted .248 with 5 home runs and 26 RBI in 69 games.
Dick Davis played the outfield and was used as a designated hitter by Milwaukee more often than any other Brewer from 1978 to 1980, before later major league stops with Philadelphia, Toronto and Pittsburgh. He signed with the Brewers as an amateur free agent in 1972 after attending Compton High School, where Gary Ward and Reggie Walton were among his teammates. Milwaukee traded him to Philadelphia for Randy Lerch in the spring of 1981. Davis batted .333 with 19 RBI for the Phillies that season. An injury kept him out for much of July and August. He later spent five seasons with Japan's Kintetsu Buffaloes, batting .343 with 40 home runs and 109 RBI in 1985.
