1957 Topps #286 Bobby Richardson
Bobby Richardson's rookie card, in the scarce fourth series.
Scarce fourth series: #265-352 is the tough run of the 1957 set — roughly twice as hard to find as the other series ("tough, not rare"). No documented reason survives; the best-researched account is that Topps printed the hastily assembled final series in quantity and left Series 4 with the shortest run.

About Bobby Richardson
Bobby Richardson signed with the Yankees on June 12, 1953 — the day he graduated from high school in Sumter, South Carolina — and debuted at 19 in 1955. He claimed the second-base job in 1957 after Billy Martin was traded away, earning the first of eight All-Star selections that summer; this scarce fourth-series card is his Topps rookie, one of the set's nine key rookies. A Yankee for all 12 seasons through 1966, he won five straight Gold Gloves (1961–65) and played in seven World Series, winning three. In the 1960 Series he hit .367 with a Game 3 grand slam and a record 12 RBIs, becoming the only player from a losing team named Series MVP. In 1962 he led the AL with 209 hits, then snared Willie McCovey's Game 7 liner to clinch the title. He and teammate Tony Kubek were dubbed the “Milkshake Twins” for their clean living. Richardson retired at 31 with 1,432 hits, later coaching South Carolina to the 1975 College World Series.
