The 1960 Topps team card caught the Orioles turning a corner. Under manager Paul Richards, Baltimore posted its first winning season since the franchise moved from St. Louis in 1954, finishing 89-65, second in the American League, eight games behind the Yankees. The Orioles held first place as late as September 9 before New York closed with a 15-game winning streak to pull away. The engine was a rookie-heavy rotation dubbed the "Kiddie Corps": 22-year-old Chuck Estrada went 18-11, Milt Pappas won 15, and Steve Barber and Jack Fisher rounded out a staff that had the Yankees looking over their shoulder into September. Third baseman Brooks Robinson, in his first full season as a regular, made his first All-Star team and won his first Gold Glove at Memorial Stadium. Richards was named the AL's Manager of the Year for the surprise run.
