The players on this card
Al López managed Bill Veeck's White Sox to an 87-67 record in 1960, third place in the American League, ten games behind the pennant-winning Yankees. That winter Veeck and GM Hank Greenberg reunited Chicago with fan favorite Minnie Miñoso, sending Norm Cash, Johnny Romano, and Bubba Phillips to Cleveland, while another deal brought Gene Freese from Philadelphia for Johnny Callison. The "Go-Go" style built around Luis Aparicio and Nellie Fox held: Aparicio led the league in steals for a fifth straight year, and Fox's streak of consecutive games started at second base, running back to 1955, finally ended that September. Miñoso drove in 105 runs, and Roy Sievers, acquired from Washington that April, topped the club with 28 home runs. At Comiskey Park that season, the Sox became the first team in any sport to put players' names on the backs of their jerseys.
