The story on this card
Tommie Agee started Game 3 of the 1969 World Series with a leadoff home run off Jim Palmer at Shea Stadium on October 14, then saved runs in the outfield. In the fourth, with Orioles on first and third and two out, he ran to the 396-foot sign in left-center and caught Elrod Hendricks's drive backhanded. In the seventh, with the bases loaded and two out, he made a diving catch of Paul Blair's line drive in right-center. Gary Gentry pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings and doubled in two runs himself. Ed Kranepool homered and Jerry Grote doubled in a run. Nolan Ryan finished the 5-0 win with a save, his only World Series appearance, before 56,335 fans. Topps #307 belongs to the 1970 World Series subset (#305-310) and was printed in the third series.
