The story on this card
The Orioles closed the 1970 World Series on October 15 at Memorial Stadium with a 9-3 win over Cincinnati in Game 5, winning the title in five games for their second championship. Baltimore had won 108 games in the regular season to the Reds' 102, and Earl Weaver's club led the American League in runs scored and fewest runs allowed. Frank Robinson hit a two-run homer, Merv Rettenmund added a homer and two RBI, and Davey Johnson drove in two. Cincinnati starter Jim Merritt left in the second inning. It was the last World Series won by the Orioles at home as of 2026, and the last game in the majors for umpire Emmett Ashford. The celebration is 1971 Topps #332, a World Series subset card with the Baltimore Orioles, printed in the third series.
