1975 Topps #441 Bobby Heise

About Bobby Heise
Robert Lowell Heise broke into pro ball in 1966, signed as an 18-year-old amateur free agent out of Vacaville, California by Mets scout Roy Partee. He debuted with New York in September 1967 and spent 11 major-league seasons as a versatile infielder — shortstop, second, and third base — for the Mets, Giants, Brewers, Cardinals, Angels, Red Sox, and Royals. His lone career home run came June 30, 1970, off the Padres' Danny Coombs at Candlestick Park, in a San Francisco lineup that had him batting between Bobby Bonds and Willie Mays. Dealt from California to Boston that December, Heise became a valuable reserve on the pennant-winning 1975 Red Sox, driving in 21 runs and delivering a 4-for-7, five-RBI day in a July doubleheader at Cleveland. He finished his career as a part-timer on Kansas City's 1977 playoff team under Whitey Herzog. His 1975 Topps card (#441) shows him with the Angels, the team he played for in the second half of 1974 before that winter's trade to Boston.
