About Joe Lahoud

Joseph Michael Lahoud, born April 14, 1947, in Danbury, Connecticut, signed with the Red Sox in 1965 under scout Frank "Bots" Nekola, the same scout who signed Carl Yastrzemski. The left-handed-hitting outfielder debuted with Boston on April 10, 1968, and on June 11, 1969, in Minneapolis he blasted three home runs off three different Twins pitchers, driving in four runs. A ten-player trade sent him to Milwaukee in October 1971, and a nine-player deal brought him to the Angels two years later. His 1975 Topps card catches him fresh off his best big-league season, 1974, when he hit a career-high .271 with 44 RBIs in 127 games for California. Dealt to Texas in mid-1976 and released the following spring, he signed with Kansas City and got his only postseason action in the 1977 ALCS against the Yankees, scoring twice in three plate appearances. He retired in 1978 with a .223 average, 65 home runs, and a .334 on-base percentage over 11 seasons.
