1954-55 Topps #59 Marcel Bonin
His first mainstream card, and a Topps exclusive - no Parkhurst card through 1954-55.

About Marcel Bonin
Marcel Bonin's resume reads like carnival fiction: as a Joliette teenager he wrestled a 600-pound circus bear for a $1,000 prize, a stunt that followed him into NHL dressing rooms as "the bear wrestler." Detroit bought the rugged left wing from the Quebec Aces, and card #59 — his rookie card, and a Topps exclusive, as Parkhurst never printed him through 1954-55 — landed during his breakout season: 36 points in 69 games and a 1955 Stanley Cup with the Red Wings. Dealt to Boston that June in the Terry Sawchuk blockbuster trade, Bonin resurfaced with Montreal via the 1957 intra-league draft and won three straight Cups from 1958 to 1960, erupting for 10 goals in 11 playoff games in 1959. A four-time All-Star Game participant, he retired with 97 goals and 272 points in 454 games after a severe back injury in 1962, and entertained teammates for years with glass-chewing stunts. He died in January 2025 at 93.
